10 Semi Non-Traditional Host Gifts

Top 10 Favorite Host Gifts:

  1. Candles (My personal favorite are from my friend Cat who owns Pillars of Throw in Minneapolis)
  2. You can’t go wrong with a bar of soap, especially during flu season. I get mine from Pillars of Throw as well
  3. A plant (A poinsettia for this time of year, or an interesting plant like Aloe)
  4. Wine
    • Michael David Cabernet Freakshow
    • Decoy By Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc
  5. A “Fire Starter” to help light a traditional fireplace
  6. Cuticle Oil is a necessity for Minnesotan residents as our temperatures get colder and our skin dries out. The interesting device used for Pillars of Throw’s cuticle oil is futuristic. It operates like a pen and is very easy to use.
  7. A bouquet of flowers. I like to be unique when selecting flowers and buying flowers that are in season and local. Winter can have a lot of interesting greenery that can add volume to the bouquet.
  8. An easy dessert, like going to your local grocery bakery and grabbing a tart or a small round cake.
  9. ICE! Depending on the number of guests, you’d be surprised how much ice you can go through during a gathering. Bringing a cooler filled with ice and water bottles would be a huge help to hosts. You can go to your local liquor store or Costco or Sam’s, grab a cooler (please do not buy the styrofoam coolers), and grab the small bags of ice. Do not open the ice bags, so the ice can double as usable ice for cocktails or sodas at the party. Grab a flat of water bottles from Walmart or wherever you got your ice and cooler from. If you want to get fancy, grab your favorite bubbly waters like Fresca Original. Soon, you become the party hero.
  10. A handwritten thank you card mailed to the host after the event.
  11. Another idea/thought to help out the host: You can even bring your own Tupperware for Thanksgiving festivities if you know your family will give you leftovers. This will help you to not use a million plastic Ziploc bags.
